U-Type Speed Nuts perform the same fastening functions as the J-Type, but are used where a full bearing surface on the lower leg is desired. they are self-retained in screw-receiving position to provide simple, rapid attachement of mating panels and cannot turn as the screw is driven.
Corrosion presents no problem, as the Speed Nut will not freeze on screw threads. In fact, the Speed Nut impression actually cleans out rust, dirt or paint clots from the screw threads as they are removed.

The innovative line of Tinnerman® U-Nut Fasteners accommodates an unusually wide range of panel thicknesses from .025" to .150" which satisfies most needs for sheet metal and plastic assembly. A single Wide Range U-Nut can replace as many as 5 or 6 separate size nuts required to cover the same capacity. And, it can be supplied in 8AB thru 14AB thread sizes.

The innovative extension of the Tinnerman U-Nut product line accommodates a wide range of panel
thickness from 0.5 mm to 4.0 mm. A single uMAX Wide Panel SPEEDNUT® can replace as many as 2 to
3 standard u-nuts.
The thread engaging member of the uMAX SPEEDNUT® is uniquely designed to
remain perpendicular to the bolt. This feature reduces strip-outs, increases joint integrity, and prevents
panel damage caused by misalignment.
The uMAX SPEEDNUT® is hinged at two points, reducing
insertion efforts.
Tapped barrel versions of the parts are now available in metric thread sizes of M5 x .8,
M6 x 1.0, and M8 x 1.25. Tinnerman also offers a single thread engaging uMAX SPEEDNUT® for “lighter
duty” applications.
